A good while back Lisa E inferred that the way forward with Jackie's career path had become clearer following "some tough negotiations with Sony". I remember at the time many took this to mean Jackie was clear of their shackles and was going independent. This seemed to be backed up in the following months with Jackie releasing the videos of "Blank Space","Safe and Sound", "Apocalypse" and "The writings on the wall".
While Sony were wringing their hands in horror that they didn't want "the demographic confused", Jackie was happily telling us that she was simply experimenting with her voice and not to worry as she would not be forsaking her classical roots.
From the way Lisa was speaking at the time (and I don't remember her exact words) I always read it that the ties with Sony were not by any means completely cut. We know that Jackie has been here there and everywhere this year meeting with song writers and producers in an attempt to get a new album released. I believe that this Christmas album is being released as part of her still existing ties with Sony. Since its release date is late October for the Christmas market, it will only make sense that any new album should be held for early 2017.
I don't see how an artist can have both a formal contract and be indy at the same time. UNLESS the Christmas album is the last hurrah with Sony!?
Who knows with Jackie? :-) I just enjoy the ride.
Alec.

Alec. All well and good, but Jackie told us, several times over, that she was releasing a new album in the summer of 2016 - and that her new songs would be on that album, including "Safe and Sound", "Coming Home 2," "Apocalypse" and "The writings on the wall." So, the question still stands: Where is the new album? As good as it may be, the Christmas themed release does not fit the bill. Second question is whether there will be any more physical CDs released, or does music now only come to us as MP3, etc downloadable files? I rather prefer to purchase a physical CD than the downloadable digital file. Call me old school, but I really want nothing to do with this new on-line music paradigm.
