Review and Setlist for the “Jackie Evancho : An Evening with the New American Songbook” Mayo Performing Arts Center; Morristown, NJ - February 23rd, 2019
I had a wonderful evening seeing Jackie in concert at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey. Jackie's voice was better than ever and she put on a great performance. She was accompanied by her musical director and pianist Peter Kiesewalter and an 8-piece string ensemble. For the first set, she wore a black speckled dress and for the second set she wore a black floral dress. The show started promptly at 8 and ended around 10 with a 20-minute intermission. The theater itself was one of the nicest venues where I saw Jackie perform. Some of my personal highlights were Ed Sheeran’s “All of the Stars”, “How Great Thou Art”, and the debut of her new songs from her upcoming album “The Debut”. Simply put, Jackie keeps on getting better and better and I look forward to seeing her in concert again.
Setlist
Set 1: Lovers The Way We Were Think of Me Medley O Mio Babbino Caro Time to say Goodbye Somewhere When You Wish Upon a Star The Prayer Overture to The Marriage of Figaro (Peter Kiesewalter) Once Upon a December All of the Stars Impossible Dream (Standing Ovation)
Intermission
Set 2: Burn Somewhere Over the Rainbow Your Love Entr'acte to Act IV from Carmen (Peter Kiesewalter) How Great Thou Art (Standing Ovation) Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again Starry Starry Night Music of the Night (Standing Ovation)
Encore Nessun Dorma (Standing Ovation)

Stevenm, thanks for the review. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I see at least one song from "The Debut" on the list as well as old standards. I see Standing Ooohhs in mostly the second half, and associated with her classics. Is that the audience warming up, or appreciating the oldies. Were there younger adults attending and did "Burn" receive appropriate appreciation?
Oh, and Starry Night?
Your impression would be VERY welcome. Thank you, Steven

fridaybridge, I'd say that over 3/4th of the theater was full but I still do not see a lot of teenagers and younger adults at her concerts. There are 3 songs on the setlist that are on new upcoming album "The Debut": "Somewhere", "Once Upon a December", and "Burn". "Burn" did get a good applause along with all the songs she sang.
